This is a book that I wanted very much to like because it had an interesting premise. However, whatever plot there was was overshadowed by other plot details thrown in almost as if the author is assuming you know all of the bits that aren't stated. My main issue is that the characters were just all over the place. Jared is the intellectual adult, but seemed to spend a lot of his time going back and forth between speaking like an adult and whining to Claudia about her father, amongst things. It felt almost as if there were no sense of confirmed identity between them that made them really hard to identify with and understand. If the plot had been better developed and characters given their proper background and age profiles it would have been a much better book. But it seems hasty in parts. Not looking forward to the sequel, but if I see it in the library I might pick it up.
